G-20 Update From the Chancellor

Because of security restrictions related to the Thursday, Sept. 24, heads-of-state dinner to be held at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in conjunction with the G-20 Summit, the Frick Fine Arts Building will be closed from the end of the last evening class on Wednesday, Sept. 23, until 7 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 25. There will be no University access to that building during the time that it is closed.

Also on Thursday, classes in the Cathedral of Learning will conclude by noon, and all other classes that day on the Oakland campus will conclude by 4 p.m. Normal class schedules will resume on the morning of Friday, Sept. 25.

As the date for the Summit approaches, please check this Web site for developing information. Pitt students and employees who have not already done so, also should enroll in the University’s Emergency Notification System. Individuals can sign up at my.pitt.edu.

The selection of Pittsburgh to host this Summit presents a range of positive opportunities for our home region. The gathering also will produce some measure of inconvenience. Advance planning and a conscious commitment to patience almost certainly will be of help in dealing with any challenges that do arise.
